Here you will find information, training, tips, and links for current and future umpires.
Without umpires our club hockey games wouldn't be able to go ahead, so it's vital that we maintain a pool of qualified umpires within the club.

Not sure if umpiring is for you? Below is a link to England Hockey's rules section for anyone to sign up and review the rules and take a quiz. On completion, you will receive a certificate which shows that you have demonstrated awareness of the Rules of Hockey.

There are also a couple of online courses offered by England Hockey, if you are new to umpiring:
Introduction to Umpiring
- It is aimed at those with little or no umpiring knowledge and would be suitable for parent helpers, teachers or young leaders
- Great way to learn the basics of umpiring to support you umpiring 11-a-side hockey outside of formal leagues where accreditation levels exist.
Level 1 Umpiring Course
- It is aimed at those looking to umpire lower level 11 a-side games for their clubs, schools or universities and is the second step on the Umpire Development Pathway
- Delivers theoretical aspects of umpiring to support individuals umpiring the 11-a-side game on a full-sized pitch
Any course costs will be covered by the club, plus we also pay you for the games you umpire.
